I am excited to announce that I am an independent Mayoral candidate in the upcoming Gold Coast City Council elections on March 28, 2020.
I’m putting my hand up because the Gold Coast is ready for a new era of leadership. I want to drive the change we need to thrive.
We know that healthy, liveable cities have healthier, happier communities and it’s clear to me that the Gold Coast needs a health check.
I will be running with six core goals as the focus for everyone’s attention, and these can be found in more detail on my website www.monahecke2020.com
- City design and liveability – Strike the right balance to protect what we love about our city and promote development that will enhance it
- Traffic and car parking solutions – Ease traffic congestion and improve the ways we move around the city
- Budget health check – Focus on core responsibilities, collaborate with State Government, neighbouring councils and business, listen to the people and keep rates down
- Better working opportunities – Diversify our economy and generate new employment opportunities by supporting and investing in sustainable industries and development
- Great outdoors – Protect our natural assets and enhance our streets, parks, beaches and rivers
- Everybody matters – Foster the things that bring us together, keep us safe, healthy and happy
I will be spending the next six months listening to the community. I want to know what matters most to Gold Coasters, so we can confidently and collaboratively deliver what they need.
I want our community to thrive. I want our built and natural environments to flourish. I want our economy to prosper. My set of goals is the start of a plan for action to achieve the right balance.
I will be a Mayor who cares about the whole city. Everybody Matters!
